Coco UK release date, trailer and cast for the latest Disney movie

It was released in Mexico last year but Disney‘s coming-of-age movie, Coco, is finally on its way to our shores.
The movie, which is set in Mexico, focuses on the young Miguel who, despite having a strict ban on music placed on him, dreams of playing the guitar.

What is Coco all about?

It follows a 12-year-old boy called Miguel who wants to follow his dream of playing the guitar like his dead hero Ernesto de la Cruz.
After playing Ernesto’s old guitar, he gets plunged into the dark and magical world of the Dia De Los Muertos festival — the Day of the Dead.
This is a real festival which happens every year on November 2 and it sounds like the movie will unravel its mysteries.

Coco co-director Lee Unkrich previously said of the festival: ‘I’d seen it portrayed in folk art. It was something about the juxtaposition of skeletons with bright, festive colors that captured my imagination.
‘It has led me down a winding path of discovery. And the more I learn about Dia De Los Muertos, the more it affects me deeply.’

Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events.
Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. Character actress Renée Victor also joins the cast as Abuelita, Miguel’s grandmother.[/metro-fact-box]
